Once you have a child, you are introduced to this whole new world where you are in a state of worry. There are various changes to adapt to key of them being sleeping patterns. The first stage in a child’s life is the infancy stage where you will be lucky if you get three hours of solid sleep. Unless they wake you up, you are bound to get more than three hours of sleep. The independent stage is where the pattern sets in and the glorious stage where you hope to get your sleeping pattern back and get it down to a science.
How you feed your baby will determine your sleeping patterns when they are infants. There are a few benefits associated with breastfeeding though it may be a personal decision. For instance, breastfeeding makes a mother loose her baby fat rapidly and burn a lot more calories. Important nutrient content is also passed on to babies when you breast fed. These nutrients have antibodies that helps to build the immunity of the child keeping diseases at bay. Breastfeeding time is also a bonding time between a mother and her child.
Not having any or sufficient amounts of milk may be one reason why some mothers choose to not breastfeed. You can still opt to use formula even if you breast feed. Regardless of your choice, you will notice a pattern between feeding time and sleep.
It is highly unlikely that you will get three hours or more of solid sleep when you breast feed. You will get a solid sleep rhythm when you monitor your patterns.
Those that use formula milk have a three-hour grace period before the child wakes up provided their diaper is dry. This is a bit relaxing and convenient since you can plan your time around these timings.
When your child is around two, they can walk about. There is a transition when they are toddlers where they graduate from the crib to the bed. This stage has a mixture of emotions that a mother cannot express. This stage is where most parents practice the famous tip toe back to their bedroom when their child falls asleep
Brave kids go looking for their parents while the less brave ones call out for their parents in the middle of the night but you are guaranteed more than three hours of sleep.
When they become independent and start going to kindergarten your sleep pattern will go back to normal. This stage the kids are familiar with their sleeping pattern their bedroom and know when its time to sleep. Persevering through the sleepless nights is worth it now since you can reward yourself with a cup of coffee in the morning thanks to your normal sleep routine.
